There are a variety of opportunities to get involved in our Section. The professional and personal rewards are abundant. Below are some of the examples of how to get involved:
The Environmental Law Journal
The Environmental Law Journal is the premiere publication of its kind in Texas and the Southwest. Consider writing an article for the journal.
The Annual Environmental Superconference
The Environmental Superconference, held the first week in August in Austin every year. This conference is probably the most widely attended, well respected and affordable environmental educational program in Texas. Consider getting involved in the organizing committee or volunteering to speak at the program.
Professional Development Program
Last year our Professional Development Program in San Antonio focused on Water Law. It was a resounding success. Consider getting involved in the organizing committee or volunteering to speak at advanced Section programs.
Law School Outreach
We have a very active program working with the nine Texas law schools. Consider helping plan an environmental seminar at one of the law schools, speaking at one of the environmental seminars, coaching students preparing for an environmental competition, speaking at a meeting of a law school environmental society, or mentoring a student with an interest in environmental law.
Pro Bono Projects
Each year, the Section's Pro Bono Committee evaluates and recommends one or more pro bono projects that support the goals of the Section and benefit the Texas environment. The Committee is always soliciting worthy projects and Section member support to implement those projects.
Other Programs
The Section manages numerous other programs in addition those listed above. We encourage you to review this website for information about those other programs and contact us for further information on how to get involved in those programs.
The Section encourages all members to get involved and contribute to the Section. You may contact the Section Chair or any of the other Section officers or Executive Committee members for more information.
